[dt_gap height=”10″ /]Do you have a voice that says “We would love to have some training, we know that we really need it, and would get a lot of benefit from it, but we don’t have time.
[dt_gap height=”10″ /]If you did have the time, would you invest in training? “Of course but…”
[dt_gap height=”10″ /]Training comes in different packages and you are probably involved in it every day with offering “on the job” coaching and feedback as situations arise every day. However there are times when it simply doesn’t make sense not to have a professional trainer deliver a workshop that will significantly improve the performance of your team.
[dt_gap height=”10″ /]Yes, it does cost to train either in your workplace or in a public workshop. However the benefits outweigh the costs. It is sometimes difficult to pin down the desired outcomes or outline the training that is required, but experienced trainers are able to help clarify your needs. An external trainer provides fresh ideas and is armed with best practice to ensure that the time spent away from your business results in high quality behavioural changes.
[dt_gap height=”10″ /]You wouldn’t hire someone that you knew didn’t have the skills for their position, so why would you allow the situation to arise that your teams’ ability to be productive has fallen due to not upskilling when necessary. It is a balancing act as providing the training to maintain high performance means that time must be taken out of the workplace. You know that taking that time out will cause a loss of productivity and profits – but only for one day!
[dt_gap height=”10″ /]One of the greatest benefits in sending individuals or smaller teams on a public workshop is the opportunity to network. The things they learn are different from what they learn in the training sessions. They will find other people with similar problems and learn not only how they have solved their problems but also what didn’t work for them. They can learn from each-others experiences, trade notes, and tips. They can also ask questions of each-other that they may be uncomfortable admitting they have a problem with in their own workplace. Because they are face to face, they can learn more than they could by email or a training course that is exclusively online.
[dt_gap height=”10″ /]It has been illustrated many times that companies who invest time and money into training their employees have much lower staff turnover. There is higher employee engagement with an understanding of company values and direction, and a willingness to work to achieve desired results. Higher engagement in a role is a strong predictor of happiness and fulfilment within a role as well, which again lowers staff turnover and increases productivity.
